Black coffee, sugar, and orange and lemon juice topped with whipped cream.
Irish coffee was created by the bartender of the Shannon Airport, in Ireland, to comfort passengers of early northern transatlantic flights, which were making a mandatory fuelling stop there until the early 1960s. The "Irish fuel" won almost instant renown. This alcohol-free version uses citrus juice to replace the whisky.
1 cup | coffee (liquid), strong | 250 mL
1/3 cup | whipping cream 35% | 85 mL
2 tsp | sugar | 8 g | |
2 tbsp | orange juice | 30 mL
2 tsp | lemon juice, freshly squeezed | 1/4 lemon |
A mixer will be very useful for this recipe.
This recipe may be prepared also with decaffeinated coffee.
Do not stir after adding the cream, as the true flavour is obtained by drinking the coffee through the cream.
